Charles's Story
Military
I knew from about age 8 that I wanted a military career. This resolve has never left me. Graduated and commissioned 2Lt through ROTC at University of Richmond in June 1967. Assigned Armor and sent to Fort Knox in October '67. Ended up at Fort Lewis, WA, infantry training center in 1968. Quickly became tired of routine and volunteered for Vietnam. t to Vietnam in September '68 where initially assigned to Co. D, 2nd Bn/3rd Inf, 199th LIB. In 1969 reassigned to MACV where I joined Mobile Advisory Team III-59, first in Gia Dinh Province and then in An Loc District, Binh Long Province. Discharged in August 1969 and eventually joined the DCARNG. Currently working on the Vietnam records in the National Archives. Never really left Vietnam. "Shaun"
