Kristal's Story
Life
I left high school in early 1985 due to an abusive situation and a terminal illness in my family (85-86 would have been my grauating class). I did graduate, prior to my class, in 1985. I then worked at McDonalds until I left for the Army. Had a job slated for military intelligence (infared imagery) but when I got there and went through security briefings, I realized it wasnt for me and was released to come home. Noel Nabua and I had planned on getting married but it seemed like he never wanted to commit. After the army, I moved to the eastern shore of md and had two children and two miscarriages. I married in 1988. I now have a daughter who is 17 and a son 13. My son has autism. I received my associate degree in nursing and am an rn. I bought my own home in salisbury md in 2001. My husband and i seperated in 2002. I now live with my two children and my partner, susan, in salisbury.
School
I remember many things about Waynesboro High School but I guess what I want to get across to anyone who reads this now is who and what I was. I looked like the party type and was considerd, at least i think i was considered, to be a hard ass. I look back now and really dont know how I got through those years. I had a broken family and experienced abusive situations, mentally and physically...no one knew. I was also dealing with the terminal illness of my mother, who passed in 1988. I did delve into drugs and alcohol at the time and now looking back realize it was all an escape. Not too many people may remember me or even have liked me but no one really knew me. I was a good person and wished those years would have been different for me. I had been a prep, most of my young life and thought that was what my life would have been but things fell apart for my family and I guess I always hated preps for just being who they were...the epitomy of what I lost. So, to those of you whom i was mean to, I am sorry. For those of you who didint know me, I wish I could have known you.
College

college classes off and on in 1989. Wasnt sure about what I wanted to do and was also busy having my children and raising them. Started at Chesapeake college Wye Mills MD and transfered to Wor-Wic college Salisbury md. Had a double major in science/general. Graduated with my associate degree/science/nursing in 1998 and am still just 3 classes away from my associate in general studies. (really need to go back and finish) I had thoughts, at one time, of maybe trying teaching and have had MANY opportunities to teach as a nurse.
Workplace
Began working as a candy striper at waynesboro hospital while I was in antietam middle school. In high school, I worked for Mcdonalds in Waynesboro. Once I moved to the eastern shore, we lived so far into the country it was difficult to do anything so I helped out at the hunting club grounds/houses where I lived. I cleaned, picked ducks, picked crabs etc etc for spending cash. I received my certificate for CNA but rarely worked in that field. I viewed it as a stepping stone for nursing. I began college and graduated with my associate degree in nursing in 1998. I am an RN. I have mostly worked in home health pediatrics, but have also worked in medical/surgical and hospice work. Hospice work would be my love but the job didnt work out. At this point in my life, right now, I am taking a much needed break since the break-up of my marriage and am not working but am in the beginning stages of starting a home business.
Military
I joined the army in 1985 and left for basic, with michelle alter, on June 21, 1986. My job was to be in military intelligence as an infared imagery analyst. I arrived a the reception station in fort dix NJ and was held back from my regular group for a series of security briefings. I was the only woman in a group of about 15 men. I went through several security briefings in which I was told things and questioned. At that time, i realized that the situation was not one for me and I aksed to go home and was released form duty on July 11, 1986.
