Joel's Story
Life
Up until recently, I was a teacher at
Chaparral High School in North
Scottsdale where I taught Drama
and Technical Theater. I now work
for the Arizona Region of The
National Conference for Community
and Justice (NCCJ), a non-profit
human relations organization
dedicated to the idea that the
promise of America is for everyone.
The NCCJ fights bigotry, bias and
racism in its many guises. NCCJ
promotes understanding and
respect among all races, religions
and cultures through advocacy,
conflict resolution and education. I
am the program specialist for Youth
in Education and am responsible for
running the Anytown USA summer
youth program. My partner is from
Argentina. He is currently s...Expand for more

Culinary Arts and will graduate in the
fall of 2002.
11/2004 update
I have moved on from NCCJ, worked with Tumbleweed Center for Youth as a program manager - opened a Learning Center for homeless youth in the agency. As recently as February, I took a job as a Counselor at GateWay Early College High School, located on the campus of GateWay Community College.
I am still with my partner, having just celebrated our 4th year together. He works for a bake shop in Scottsdale, primarily doing specialty cakes and pastries.
12/2005 update
Still at Gateway, Still with my partner. He now works at the Wrigley Mansion as the executive pastry chef. We are building a new home in Maricopa and will move in this January!
