Joel's Story

Life Up until recently, I was a teacher at Chaparral High School in North Scottsdale where I taught Drama and Technical Theater. I now work for the Arizona Region of The National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ), a non-profit human relations organization dedicated to the idea that the promise of America is for everyone. The NCCJ fights bigotry, bias and racism in its many guises. NCCJ promotes understanding and respect among all races, religions and cultures through advocacy, conflict resolution and education. tudying Culinary Arts and will graduate in the fall of 2002. 11/2004 update I have moved on from NCCJ, worked with Tumbleweed Center for Youth as a program manager - opened a Learning Center for homeless youth in the agency. As recently as February, I took a job as a Counselor at GateWay Early College High School, located on the campus of GateWay Community College. I am still with my partner, having just celebrated our 4th year together. He works for a bake shop in Scottsdale, primarily doing specialty cakes and pastries. 12/2005 update Still at Gateway, Still with my partner. He now works at the Wrigley Mansion as the executive pastry chef. We are building a new home in Maricopa and will move in this January!
