Kenneth's Story

Life I graduated in 1987 with honors in absolutely nothing... no... wait... I did have an honorable mention for my beer guzzling abilities (second perhaps only to David Thornton... but my memory is pretty fuzzy when it comes to the good old days). Played sports in school... just not that well... but did at a later date find my true calling "volleyball" and have spent the better part of my off time since high school playing in semi pro leagues around New Mexico and Texas. After high school I made a failed attempt to "master the college world" but instead took the age old St. John tradition of making a career out of bombing people (Gulf War... a few of you might remember that one) instead of wasting time and my parents money bombing in more classes. I eventually went on to finish a degree and spent seven years playing the roll of an official "wingnut" in the Air Force. As with all good things, I finally decided that I needed a change and moved to Houston to set up shop as a Network/Systems Lead for a major communications company based out of Tampa Florida. Hey... the work sucks... but the pay more than makes up for it!!! Tried marriage once... no kids... but have high hopes that things will eventually work out for me in the end. I'm still single at this point, much to the annoyance of my parents, but perhaps someday. Overall... life is good... and if you happen to remember me please feel free to drop me a line at (kpstjohn at earthlink dot net). Take care. School Crush... hmmm... I think I'll keep that one to myself thank you. Can't really say any one teacher inspired me either. I think if I had it to do all over again I would have been a little less to myself, and a little more out going. As far as the most humorous memory of high school goes, it would probably have to be the night that Jeff, Brandon, Mathis, and yours truly got ourselves in a little bit of trouble with the city of Reedley. Not exactly sure who came up with the idea, but after a night of enjoying frosty beverages we decided to go around town climbing buildings. Completely harmless of course, but the law eventually caught up to us at what I believe was the First United Methodist Church. Drunken stupidity at it's pinaccle, ah the memories. In the end the tally was: one valedictorian, one future valedictorian, one well known Reedley High School althlete, and Ken, being carted ...Expand for more
off in handcuffs for a fun filled evening in the local pokey. All charges were thankfully dropped, but our building spelunking days were most definitely over. Thanks guys College Attended Kings River Community college, University of the Air Force, New Mexico State, University Of Houston. It was all work and no play, so not much to tell. Workplace Considering the fact that I started working summers at age 11 as a dish washer, I believe it's safe to say that I have progressed a bit. Let's see here... I've worked as a dish washer, a checker, a cook, a waiter, an inventory stocker, a Thrifty ice cream scooper, a Dominoes delivery driver, a Holiday Inn banquets worker, eight years in the military as a Secure Communications Cryptographics Intelligence Specialist in White Sands New Mexico, two years as a Technical Advisor between Government and Civilian entities for Westinghouse in White Sands New Mexico, and eight years as a Senior/Lead Network Communications Technician for Intermedia-Worldcom-MCI-Verizon Business in Houston Texas. Hey, it pays the bills. Military My military days were, in all honesty, some of the best and worst of times to date. Although I really can't discuss the majority of it (I signed my life away on that one), I loved my job, and I sincerely admired and respected those who worked with and around me. My time with the Air Force allowed me to see a lot of the world, it's cultures, and it's people. I travelled to places like England, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Saudi Arabia, and about a half dozen other middle eastern countries. I also had the opportunity to see much of the U.S. during that time. I travelled from coast to coast and just about every where in between. It was great, but not if you're married. I became another statistic unfortunately, and that's probably the reason why my career field had a 98% divource rate. I met a lot of wonderful people, and I met a lot of not so wonderful people. My job also enabled me to see things from a slightly different perspective than the average American. A perspective very much outside of the main stream media or the party line political posturing that is so prevelant today. Not going to get in to that however, but feel to drop me a line some time and we'll "chat". Other than that, I enjoyed my time in the military, and I would gladly do it again if it were ever asked of me.
