"One minute you're in the lunchroom
at Glenwood High and you ... blink,
and you're 40...you blink again,
and you can see movies at half price
on a senior citizen's pass...
Ask not for whom the bell tolls,
...Expand for more
or to put it more accurately,
ask not for whom the toilet flushes..."
- the Woody Allen movie, Celebrity...
What does it feel like to be dead?
Ever gone back to a school you graduated from 10 years before?
You walk the halls and no one knows you.
If you go soon after graduation,
there will still be people who remember you
and want to make small talk.
But 10 years later? 20 years later?
You might as well be a ghost.
There might be a picture on the wall,
but most people have no clue who you are.
And life goes on, entirely without you.
That’s what being dead is like.
You don’t feel anything; you’re too dead for that.
You live on for a while in the memories of people who loved you.
Then, like your grandmother’s grandfather who was also loved in his day
but about whom you probably know nothing, you’re forgotten about.
And the world keeps living...
