Scott's Story

Life I never had many obtainable goals growing up. I was too busy staying drunk and stoned! Therefore, I dropped out and got a GED. I was in a relationship with Dawn Bianco (now Kuehl) for 3 years. We have an absolutely beautiful daughter named Samantha, who is now 17. Dawn and I separated on good terms and speak often. Samantha lived with me for 11 years and now lives with her mom again. I love her dearly. I worked at several good jobs in Tucson. Associated Bio Science, Damon Clinical Labs, and Allied Clinical Labs, just to name a few. I became a father again, this time a son by the name of Destin. My relationship with his mother did not last long. Unfortunately, I was still way too indulged in drugs and alcohol. That all set the stage for the next part of my life - excitement and crime. I began "transporting" desired products to various parts of the East Coast. Life was fast, furious, and fun. Although, it was truly a blur. During this time of my life, I met my lovely wife Jeanie, we have now been married for 14 years, and at times I wonder how she put up w/me for all these years. This phase of my life came to a sudden end. I made the biggest mistake of my life, I robbed a Bank of America in Tucson. That's one way of getting on the front page of the Tucson Citizen, and headline news for the local channels! Needless to say, I didn't get away with it. I spent a lot of the "dirty" money I had earned to pay for a quality attorney. It was well worth the investment and I only spent a minimal amount of time in prison. None of this seemed to make much of an impact on my mindset. Immediately after my release from prison, I was right back on the road, "transporting". It was the best way I knew to make money, and after my incarceration, my fam...Expand for more
ily needed it. This trip was quite costly, one of my partners got his head literally blown off. It was everything I could do to get out of there alive. I have never seen so much blood. The interior of this van was covered with blood, and so was I. This was probably the most horrific thing I have ever seen. Did all of this make me change, HELL NO. I've lived in various places. I spent some time in Flagstaff then on to Albuquerque, NM. After that, it was off to the beautiful Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. I finally settled down in Illinois about 5 years ago. I have finally started to mature and have accepted that change is a good thing. My life no longer revolves around drugs and alcohol. I have been clean and sober for quite some time now. I now live in the far north suburbs of Chicago, and I love it here. Jeanie and I have 2 children together (total of 4 for me). Cameron is 9, and Shaina is 7. I have continued my education and I currently work as the Office Manager at Round Lake Beach Medical Center. I am involved in N.A. and A.A. I voluntarily go into alcohol/drug treatment center as well as jails to offer my story hope and strength to suffering addicts. I have been requested as a guest speaker on many occasions. I also attend Church on a regular basis. I am quite content and happy with my life at this time. I consider myself a very good father and husband now. I really don't think there is much about my life I would change. I have seen some magnificent places and met some amazing people. It is unfortunate that my older children saw the worst side of me. However, I truly don't think I could have become the man I am today, without going through all those trials and tribulations. "Too bad I had to leave out all the real juicy stuff".
