Mary's Story

Life I grew up in NC and was dirt poor.My dad was always a hard worker and honest. My mom stayed at home and raised us. I grew up thinking less of rich people to only realize I was wrong, there are very special people rich or poor , black or white. I have 4 sisters and 1 brother. I'm a twin. I gradurated highschool in 1975 and in 76 was married and expecting our first child; it was then that a drunk driver hit us head on and doctors thought I would lose my son, but today he is 27 and has 2 little girls. I also have a daughter 26 that just wed. I have been married for 29 years to my husband and we plan to redo our vows april 30 which will be our 30 anniversary. To me having children is the greatest gifts given to mankind, besides that of God giving his own son for my sins. A few yrs later , my father in law died with heart failure and I then realized who Jesus was and why man preaches about Jesus and the cross. I accepted Him as my personal savior and my husband did also at home from reading a track. Later God called him to preach and he ran but finally surrendered and with the grace of God , he continues. I wish I could say life has been perfect but no-one has a perfect life and we all shed tears, why I shed those tears I care not to disclose but God has brought me through it all. In the accident, all my facial bones were broken so its a miracle that my child did live and I'm so thankful. I wish I had some of the knowledge I have today because there were people in class that I would love to gotten to know but coming from a standpoint of being poor thought less of myself and realize now that we all grow up and have regrets. I have not worked a lot, I decide to stay home and raise my children which I am so thankful for. Its not an easy job to raise children and try to keep them from going the way of the world or making fun of others or thinking more hightly of themselves but with Gods help, I accomplished it and have raised 2 wonderful people that I love and they love me. My heath isn't real good, but hey I'v been blessed with a wonderful husband and children and grandchildren, and Savior, maybe in some eyes thats not success but to me; I'm most thankful. I love people and wish I had been less shy in scho...Expand for more
ol but God uses us all, I'v been a christian over 20 years now and when my daughter wed, she wed a young man that she prayed for since a little girl, God does answer prayers, though she shed some tears. Again my life is far from perfect and sometimes I get depressed because somehow people go there own way and you feel lonely but if you ever feel this way just keep looking up, cause Jesus loves you. I had the best mother and father in law a girl could ask for. Both have gone on to be with the Lord. Such a great loss, heavens gain.....I don't think there was a better grandmother, and no she didn't have money but lots and lots of love. Thats what matters. I am also blessed to still have both my parents liveing , dad just turned 72. As far as the world would add my success , I'd be a failure but its not how much money or how popular, or if you're a star, realizing it all comes from God and to be thankful makes you successful. Love, Mary UPDATE: This past Nov. my Twin sister and friend went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ and I'm thankful that I was holding her hand when He called her home; she came out of a coma and opened her eyes , a radiance filled her face and life her eyes, and gently she took her last breath here on this side of Eternity. No more cancer , backbrace, tears; she's HOME. Then also in 2007, we got our fourth grandchild, Bella Rose and now this August we are expecting our 5th grandchild, "Noah" on the 14. We now also have our sixth grandchild...that makes four girls and 2 boys.. My dad went to be with Jesus June 22nd of this year...I don't think I'v ever known hurt like this and yet Gods grace is sufficient....This by far has been my hardest Christmas......... .....We have our seventh grandchild....Jude Gearhart Lester.....we have been blessed..Update.....our daughter is getting ready to move with her husband and four chiildren to Charlotte . I'v been going through kidney failure, and our most resent loss was that of my Nephew Michael Patterson , age 33......this has been a tremendous hurt on my sister.........only the Lord can get her through as one needs too....He left behind five beautiful children......alll sons. He passed away July 28 from an auto accident.
