Linda's Story

Life I am happily married to a wonderful man; we have been together for twenty-eight years now. My Husband is the Father to 4 grown children who are my dear friends. We are blessed that my Step-Children have given us 10 Grandchildren, and 5 Great-grandchildren. I am the proud "Mother", to a beautiful 11 year old black cocker spaniel named Jasmine, and two short-haired cats, an arrogant gray tabby named Thelma, and Blackie a domestic short hair - a beautiful lovey black kitty. They were both strays that we found and fell in love with, and adopted each other. College I graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education, majoring in Speech / Theater / Telecommunications; and minored in English and Anthropology. In my mid thirties, I went back to college to pursue an MBA at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. After taking a few courses, it helped me get a new and better job. However, the time demands of the new position as Corporate Payroll Manager with Purdue Pharma, made it impossible to continue work on the MBA. Workplace After college, I worked as a substitute teacher for a while (primarily at Maconaquah HS in Peru where I did my student teaching), and found out I did not enjoy it as a career. I then joined Olin Corporation in Peru, IN working in the office Production Department. After four years, I was promoted to its corporate headquarters in Stamford, CT and worked within their Finance Department for 9 years. Stamford was such a different world than Kokomo. I went from living is one of the most affordable places in the US, to on...Expand for more
e of the most expensive places in the US. Quite a culture shock overall, even at age 29 when I made the move. In 1993 a head hunter found me a much better job with Purdue Pharma in Norwalk, CT as Corporate Payroll Manager, where I worked for 3 years. Purdue Pharma is best known as the manufacturer of Betadine, Senacot and Oxycontin. Then due to my Mother's ill health, I became a Real Estate Sales Person in Greenwich, CT for a little over a year; so as to allow me more flexibility with visits to IN to care for my Mother as necessary. My Husband took early retirement in 1996; and in 1997 we moved to Myrtle Beach, SC to a lovely Golf Community called "The Legends", which works out wonderfully for my golfaholic Husband. After settling in in Myrtle Beach, I finally went back to work as an Assistant Production Manager with Portrait Homes construction company in Myrtle Beach for six years; quite a change of venue from the corporate world of the northeast. And thank God, we live where the cost of living is closer to the national average again. I am now officially retired from the work force as of 12/30/04, and am currently enjoying living in the south and all this area has to offer. Although, I do miss my old friends in Kokomo, unfortunately I no longer have any family living in the Kokomo area. I would love to hear from my former classmates, and old friends from my days in Kokomo, Bloomington, and Stamford. Life has truly been more good than bad over the years; I have been very lucky. I hope the same is true of my former high school and college classmates and friends.

It is also hard to believe it was 8 years ago for Bandi's first Christmas photo shoot!!! I am glad she still has a whole lot of puppy spirit in her.
For me, this applies to both dogs and cats. <3 <3 <3
