Darrell's Story
After finishing Unaka in 61, I attended ETSU for a couple of years and worked at the "plant," before earning a BE in Electrical Engineering at Vanderbilt. I got married, and finished grad school at the Univ of Tenn in Electrical Engineering. I then entered the Navy where I served for 28 years as a cryptologist and intelligence officer. Among other assignments I served as the Commanding Officer of the Navy's largest signals intelligence site, directed all Sigint activity for the US Pacific Fleet, and was a special assistant to the Director of Naval Intelligence before retiring in Denver. I establised the Denver Applied Research Lab for Scitor Corp before moving back to Virginia as the director of Business Development for Argon ST. I retired a ...Expand for more
couple of years ago but continue to consult for companies who want to grow business in the national intelligence community. In my retirement, I play golf, do workwork, travel and write. I have written three books, all on the genealogy of my and my wife's family histories. A copy of my first book, "Across the Waters to the Head of the Creek," is in the genealogy section of the Elizabethton Public Library.
I have traveled and lived across the world, but East Tennessee and Stoney Creek continue to be a source of good memories, strong values, and a sense of "this is the way its supposed to be" for me.
I would love to hear from old friends to share memories, trade stories, and enjoy sharing the best years.
