Denny's Story
Life
My wife Chalete and 2 children Alexandria (12) and Colton (6) live in Cumming, GA. We will celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary this summer (2009)! You can reach me at denny.thibault(at)verizonwireless.com and I look forward to hearing from old friends!
College
After LC I went to the University of Evansville in Indiana and earned a BS in History. After moving to Tampa I came within 3 classes of a second degree in Economics before work took me to Atlanta. In Atlanta I earned a Masters in I.T. from American Continental University.
Workplace
My first "real" job out of college was as a CSR for GTE in Tampa. I moved up and into a Systems Engineer position in the Information Security department. Later, I hopped divisions and to a Sys Engineer position in GTE Mobilnet. After we merged in Verizon Wireless I worked as a Traffic Engineer and most recently as an RF design Engineer in Alpharetta, GA.
Military

ug 2004 - Armor branch. I went to Armor School at Ft. Knox, KY and then deployed to Iraq with the 48th Infantry Brigade, 108th Armor Bn, GA Army National Guard. I spent six months as a tank platoon leader in a hell-hole called Yusufiyah, which is just south of Baghdad. We fought a lot there and since we left the Army has had 9 soldiers captured by the enemy there. That place sucked but we did get to fight terrorists. The second six months of my tour was at a place in south central Iraq called CSC Scania. It was more peaceful there and we did get to build schools and water plants and things while there. We were in Iraq from May 2005 through May 2006. Since returning I have been promoted to Captain and currently serve as the Plans Officer of a Cavalry Squadron in Calhoun, GA. We are currently mobilized for a tour in Afghanistan to train the Afghan Army and police forces. We will be there through February 2010.
Because I was gone I missed the 20 year reunion and was really bummed about that. I would say that I will try to make the next one but I fully expect to be deployed again. I guess we will have to see!
