Sam's Story
After Graduating from Sac High, JC and then Oregon State it was apparent that jobs for Math Majors were few and unappealing; so with the draft about to get me, I enlisted in the Air Force to be a weather forecaster. After OCS in Texas I was assigned to the Univ of Utah to study meteorology. On the way to Utah in June 1963 I married Lynne Nelson, the love of my life, whom I had met at Sac and dated during my senior year. We spent a year in Salt Lake City with great skiing only minutes from our door. After Graduating from Utah, the Air Force stationed us at RAF High Wycombe in England not far from London. We had three wonderful years there, traveled and made lots of friends including the couple who became godparents of our firstborn.

Air Force. Our family grew to four children, two boys and two girls with the last one born in 1973. After 37+ years working for IBM as an employee and then contractor, I retired for good in 2005. Lynne retired from teaching at Sac City Unified about that same time. These days I have been busy with volunteer work and occasional contracting jobs. I have a project list a mile long that I had planned to tackle when retired that is still staring me in the face. Don¿t know where the time goes.
All of my children except the youngest, graduated from the high school of our mortal enemy, C.K.McClatchy. All are married, with families of their own and believe it or not they all live in Sacramento. We have eight grandchildren with three under the age of one. We, like many of us our age, have become the defacto child care center, driver, etc..
