Carol's Story
Life
After high school, I became an executive secretary for RCA, in Cherry Hill.
After dating John Vernon for four years, we were married in 1962 and I transfered to Washington, D.C. and worked for RCA Service Co., while John completed his doctorate in chemistry at the University of Maryland.
In 1965 we returned to Haddonfield and we had our three sons.
After twelve years in Haddonfield, we moved to Westmont. To be home with our sons, I started child care in our home. It was a pleasure to share in young lives, and I always appreciated their parents sharing with me. I retired in 1996.
John, retired in 1998, from Proctor & Gamble.
As you may have already read under my children heading, John passed away in 1999.
As you also may have read under the same heading, that Bill Grant, class of 56, had come back into my life and that we married in 2000, only for him to have passed away thirteen days later of a heart condition.
Within this past year I have traveled to Africa and enjoyed a safari. Last month I went to Rome and in September I plan to go to Napton, England, to travel the Oxford Canal on a narrow boat. The Canal trip was much fun opening the locks and navigating the boat ourselves. Since that trip, I have been to Austria and ...Expand for more
this year went to the Florida Keys to visit my oldest grandson who belongs to my youngest son Steve, who is four soon to be five. I have a three year old grandson as well, to my son Doug. November 2002, my oldest son John and his wife had a set of twins one a girl and the other a boy. What fun they are!
I find life a lonely walk; however, I have been blessed with many good friends. I have had to grow and learn many new things and meet new challenges. To sum this all up, one thing I know, through it all, God is good!
Dec. 2008
It has been years since I have updated this story and the reason that I have not is that there is really not too much to tell. I have traveled quite a bit since I wrote last, I go to Florida twice a year to see my oldest grandson and I have been to Italy, Russia, England again, Ireland and this past summer Switzerland and I am planning a trip to Alaska for 2009 if the economy improves.
My grandchildren are putting on some years now but Iam not. The oldest is now 10 then one 9 two are just 6 and one new one 6 mos.
As you know that the Class of 57' had it's 50th reunion last spring and it was so wonderful to see everyone again. Plan to have a two and a half year reunion Oct. 2009. We have a very special class!
