Alva Joyce's Story
My husband, Robert Hammock, passed away September 3, 2019. I still fell lost without him. Wow! What life I've had. I was born in the front bedroom of our home on Sycamore Avenue so i felt it was only fitting to be married there. Robert Hammock and I were married in the living room of our home on Sycamore. Robert was in the military so we did a lot of traveling. We had four beautiful children, three boys and a girl. The oldest was born in Texas, next one in Georgia, the girl in North Carolina and the youngest boy in Germany. We have lived in Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, Kentucky and Germany during our military years. It seemed we always bounced back to Texas, the Fort Hood area. ncial aid officer at the college, at a CDAAC in Germany, the main PX office in Germany, army finance office in Kentucky, assistant secretary for the chancellor at the college, Data entry clerk and then Supervisor for the ID card section at Fort Hood, secretary for the head of the benefiits office at Wood's Psyc clinic in Killeen, mail clerk, word processor annd benefits coordinator at STP. I did squeeze in a few college courses but never completed a degree. Love to read, paint, crochet, knit, and quilt. I do crochet squares for a hugs from the heart group who sends afghans to people in the hospital, death in the family, etc. While in Killeen I did quiet a bit of work for the church but since moving here I don't do nearly as much. Right now we are keeping two of our grandchildren while their daddy travels with his job with Boeing. They are about all I can handle right now. : )
