John's Story
Life
Left H.S. and spent 2 yrs at Royal Roads Military College b/4 transferring to University. Earned BSW & BSC at Trinity and Simon Fraser, then headed East for BRE and BA degrees. Lived in Belize, Central America with my wife teaching assorted grades and subjects in the jungle. When my wife was diagnosed with cancer, we moved to Thunder Bay ON where she passed away. I worked for the Ontario Government Correctional Services Branch as an Executive Director in community programmes, with secondments to Welfare fraud and Child Protection with a Children's Aid Society - enjoyed those experiences, but lef...Expand for more
t to return to BC and home, owning and operating a Helicopter Charter company out of Queen Charlotte Islands, Vancouver Island and Langley area. I spent time with World Vision and the United Nations doing earthquake and relief missions in the Caribbean and throughout East Asia, as well as working with various refugee camps, and reconstruction efforts under UN auspices. Really enjoyed that. Recently sold the helicopter business, and moved back to Ontario where I remarried, bought an old century farmhouse, and am currently living happily raising 4 cats, alpaca and assorted weeds in my vegetable garden.
