Andrea's Story
Life
After high school I moved to Durango, Colorado. I went to college for 1 semester (fall 1999), then took time off to get my residency and save some money. I bummed around for awhile, working, hanging out, emersing (sp?) myself in the rich outdoor life in Durango, and just enjoying life. By the time I did get my Colorado residency, I didn't have a real desire to go back to school--so I didn't!
I really came into my own and grew up a lot in Colorado. It was where I became an adult and learned to be a full time grown up. I also learned a lot relationally--about being a good friend, how to treat people, overusing sarcasm (the fact that I did), judging people by something as silly as what kind of shoes they wore... Colorado was good to me and I will always feel "from" there. I lived there from age 18 to age 22.
In 2002 I met a very cute and funny construction worker dude who hired me and one of my co-workers for the day to hang from climbing equipment from some rafters, to help him take down some lattice work in an office space he was remodeling. I know, it sounds impressive. That's why I included it.;) We hit it off immediately and I married him (the guy who hired me--not my co-worker) in 2003, one year to the day exactly ...Expand for more
that I met him. In 2004 we had a baby girl, Jubilee. In 2006 (2 years and 1 month later) we had a baby boy, Titus. We lived in Washington state, California, and now New York. New York is where we are to stay. I have spent much too much of my life as a nomad with nowhere to call home.
I have been a stay-at-home mom since my daughter was born. I know there are many other things I could be doing with my life that would be much more impressive, but I feel that it is very important to be available for my children and to be a mom to them. When they are older and don't need me anymore, then I will worry about being an impressive, important person.
I wait tables 2 nights a week on the weekend, from 10pm to 6am. Again, impressive, I know! That's why I included it! This is where I get to be in the World Of Grown Ups--people who can cut their own food, form complete sentences and wipe their own buns when they go potty. The tips sure don't hurt either. I work at a greasy spoon diner and serve lots of breakfast specials.
I play the accoustic guitar and sing, and am an avid photographer (when I'm not focusing on my burgeoning food service career, of course). These are my two passions hobby-wise.
Hmmm..... I think that's about it....
