Life
Hey there! Gilakas'la! I'm still here :) I believe it's now going on 30+ years since we all graced the halls of SJ Willis Jr. High School and made our way to Vic High.
Some of my favorite memories of SJ are the noon-hour Blockbuster volleyball tournaments; soccer; and the awesome Native Studies classes (the first of their kind in BC).
At Vic High, I continued to enjoy being on the school soccer team, and my all-time most memorable moment was the day of graduation when...Expand for more
I walked across the stage in a traditional button blanket that my mum had commissioned specifically for grad. Up to that point, a whole bunch of my classmates didn't know I was Native! That was a surreal moment for me.
But all of that shaped my career path and since grad I have worked continuously with First Nations communities and organizations, and have also continued to learn and develop as a Kwagiulth artist.
