Deanna's Story
I am so enjoying my retirement years...It's so fun to get to do whatever I feel like for a change! Got to see a lot of doe in my sister's yard and visit Cripple Creek, CO - what a beautiful drive up to an elevation of about 9000 feet as well as a great fun place to go see!
Thanks for all who visit my profile page! I enjoy your visits....I also enjoy strolling down memory lane when I get the chance...
I hope my friends will remember me as a kind hearted soul, who remained loyal to a fault (even though I was a rebel to a fault also). I will always remember my friends with a fondness and recall our happy and sometimes sad days at Artesia High! I miss that old school building - bats and all! I have fond memories (mostly) of The Stand near Jr. high school and Frenchie's as those were the salvation from cafeteria food! Sometimes, I let my mind wander back and revisit my favorite hangouts and my fun times with great friends! I hope all the kids I went to school with from 1960-1963 are all doing well wherever they all are! I sometimes miss my school days and think of all the times we all shared in one way or another!
Hooray! My husband is colon cancer free and no longer on chemo! He retired with just a few days less than 40 years in the military and has been found to be 100% disabled from injuries received during active duty by the VA. He served in the Air Force, Marine Corp (his person...Expand for more
al favorite branch), Army and Army Reserves/IMA. I thought he would do well enlisting in the Navy (my personal favorite branch). I found out he wants his feet firmly on the ground! Me, I love the water and boating! My granddaughter who will be 21 in October 2013, is graduating from college this June, 2013 in CA! My son and I are both so very proud of her! She finally got her 1st driver license in CA! I was so tickled to hear she decided to break down and get it done!!!! Guess she didn't want to lug groceries on the city bus when she had to go shopping and Dad wasn't handy to drive her!
I remember the juke box in French's and I always played "Save the Last Dance for Me" every day I was there! I loved that place and have a lot of great memories there! I sometimes wish I could revisit those days, just to eat at French's once again!!! What fun that was! So sad the place was torn down and is no more! I used to enjoy the Frito Pies at The Stand while I was in Jr Hi! What a fun place to eat lunch then too! Where has the time gone??? Wow! It sure has been a quick 50 years!
Sad news! My only remaining sister passed away Sep 24, 2013 in CO. I miss her so much!! 3 weeks afterwards, my eldest nephew's wife passed away in CO. That was very sad! Then, my last living Uncle passed away Dec 31, 2013! Very sad to lose another family member so soon! I hope 2014 will be a better year!
