Mary Frances's Story
Hello Class of 1961,
How do you remember me? I have not changed. Still wild and crazy and still love to talk and explore the world and take risks. I am looking forward to our 50th class reunion in 2011. I believe Brenda Gregg Munnerlyn and Linda Coleman Self are planning it. Has it really been 47 years????
I spent 4 weeks in Japan last summer as a 4-H club chaperone and lived with a host family in Aizuwakamatsu. I learned to carry on a conversation in Japanese and to love the people and their food. I miss Japan and am now the Georgia coordinator for the Japanese 4-H inbound program. I can go back to Japan anytime I want to go.
During the summer of 2007, I was a Methodist Missionary to Kenya in the small Masaii village of Morijio and the Kipzigu tribe in Olmekenyu. These villages are so small that they are not even on the map. I was a triage nurse for the first time in my life and wrote down symptoms with the help of a translator. At the end of the medical and dental mission, we went to Fig Tree Safari Country. At Fig Tree, I met a group of people from GREENWOOD. They had been in Nairobi, Kenya working in the slums. as Denise Funderburnk from Greenwood. It was so nice to meet Greenwood friends in
Africa. I believe they were all from Northside Baptist Church in Greenwood.
You are all invited to go to Kenya with me this summer for 2 weeks, the last week in May and the first week of June 2009. The cost is 3500 and includes everything. The website is Kenya Medical Outreach at Suwannee Dental in Atlanta. I will send you the exact website if you are interested. It is the trip of a lifetime to actually live with the Masaii and Kipzigu tribes and to see the beautiful animals up close on the photo taking safari.
I am a retired teacher and now teach Suzuki violin and piano at 3 area Methodist churches and a Montessori school. I have been married for 43 years to Millard Daniel and we live on a farm in Jackson, GA and have 4 adult children and 2 grandchildren.
I went to Australia and New Zealand in 2002 with a group of 50 National Board Certified Teachers. I climbed the tallest bridge in the world at Sydney.
I live 3 hours from Greenwood in Jackson, Georgia, which is 45 miles south of Atlanta and 35 miles north of Macon.
Come to see me!!
Love, Prayers, Blessings,
Mary Frances Jennings Daniel
