After leaving Morris Hills Regional H.S., I went to nursing school at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, NJ (where I was born!), graduating in 1963. I worked in ICU until June of 1964 when Joel and I were married. He had just finished med school and was in the Navy. We spent a year at Great Lakes, IL, for his internship, where our daughter Christine was born; then to Boston, MA, for residency, where our son Marc was born. We spent 2 years in Charleston, SC, then 2 more in Boston before settling in Rome, GA. My parents (now both deceased) and brother Jim also moved here. Joel practiced internal medicine for 18 years and I worked in his office. He then left his practice and taught in a residency program for 17 years - retired from that 3 years ago and now works part-time in the hospital's cardiology lab.
