Shelby's Story
My wife(Patty)and I are retired and live in Colliervile, Tn.on our farm and our son Tim and his wife, Nicole, manage and schedule all the events, ie;
weddings,birthday parties,banquets and
the day camp in June and July. Ben, our oldest son lives on the place also and owns his construction co. Sept. 14,
2008 changed everything 180 degrees for our family as Paul,22, a senior at Christian Brothers University here in Memphis,Tn died of a stroke. We donated his organs/tissue and have heard from three of the recipients and all four are doing fine. The heart recipient and his family are coming to Paul's 5k walk/run Memorial day weekend. brothers started a foundation to raise awareness of strokes in young people and promote organ donation. We
are very active with the Midsouth Transplant Foundation here to speak and comfort those who have lost loved ones and do not know how the matching up donors/recipients take place. We were sent to DC last year to attend the National Donor Recognition Ceremony where we took workshops on sudden death, brain death and musculoskeletal transplantion.
