Frank's Story

We have moved around alot since my marriage to Maggie Hurley of Stratford. We have three grown children Tara (teacher), Ercia (professional Photographer) and Brian (chef). We lived in New Jersy when I worked for Sears and EJ Korvettes. I started a chain of wallcovering Stores for Collina & Aikman. We moved to Ohio. Target came along and offered me Director of Stores for chain. We moved to Minneapolas and it was way too cold. I took a job as Chief Operating officer for the home improvement chains Handy Dan, Handy City and Houseworks. We moved to San Antonio Texas. San Antonio is a grat place to live. We sold the chain to Channels. I then took a job as executive Vice President for Lechmere another Dayton Hudson company in Boston. We moved to New Hampshire. We bought the chain from Dayton Huson and sold it Montgomery Ward. I went to work at Builders Square home centers as President/CEO. We moved back to San Antonio. While at Builder Square Maggie and I started the Alamo Bowl college football series. We sold Builders Square to Leonard Green & Associates to combime with Hechengers. I retired for the first time at 50 years old. We traveled and played golf. Maggie and I are both avid golfers. I was asked by a group of...Expand for more
San Antonio business men if I take over the Texas Open a PGA tour event and revive it becuase it was broke. I convinced Valero to take over the tournament and retired again from President/CEO of Golf San Antonio. We went back to traveling and playing golf. I joined Apollo Gate Operators as CEO/Chairman to save it from backrupsty. After 5 years my partner and I sold the company to an Italian firm called Nice. I retired again travel, golf and the lake called once more. A friend asked for help with a bankrupt in home medical care company. The governer asked it be saved because it many needy clients. Disability Services of the Southwest was it's name. This company after 6 years is now the premier in home health comapny in Texas. We have spun off two other corporations to deliver care. I am back to working part time as it's treasurer to help it continue to grow. Golf, the lake and cruising are still our goals. It has been 6 years since I survived sudden cardiac arrest and other than have a defibulator installed in my body life goes on. I was looking forward to our 40th high school reunion but it looked like we could never get it together. I would like to catch with my classmates and hear how life has been for them.
