Elizabeth's Story

Formerly known as "Beth" Osgood, I attended Connecticut College (small liberal arts school) where I studied Botany, Ecology, and Art. After college graduation, I worked for the summer on campus doing botanical genetic research on a group grant with Yale University. When that ended, I found a job at Resource Analysts, Inc. in South Hampton, NH. In June of 1991, I married my high school sweetheart, Scott Tarr. We had a happy but brief time living in Eliot while Scott finished his Masters in Civil Engineering at UNH. I was hard at work in the lab, and then Scott got an offer too good to refuse and we moved to northern Illinois so he could get started in his career at Construction Technologies Laboratories Group (part of the Portland Cement Association) in Skokie, IL. "A few years" to get him established as an engineer turned into 12 years in IL, where we started our family with a wonderful son named Andrew, born in 1994, and a darling daughter named Kaitlin in 1997. Very happy parents! We had our ups and downs and faced life's challenges, but overall life was good. We found a wonderfully supportive and loving church family at Ingleside United Methodist. Eventually, we were able to move back to Maine, arriving in Eliot on August 15, 2003. Andrew started third grade and Kaitlin first grade that fall at Eliot Elementary School, where I had spent K-6, and Scott started in 6th grade way back when. It was a great joy to be back "home" near family, with our kids spending time with their extended family, grandparents, and my paternal grandmother. We moved into the home my grandparents had built and where my Mom and her siblings had grown up. What a blessing! Life has changed much since our return, and Scott and I are no longer together. We each have our own lives and spend as much time as possible with our children, now 16 and 14 years old. Kaitlin will be starting high school at MHS, and is looking forward to field hockey, and Andrew is a junior there, working toward becoming an Eagle Scout. Despite several major curveballs thrown into our lives, we are doing well and yes, LIFE IS GOOD. I always wanted to be a Mom when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a fine idea. As it turns out, they were absolutely right. Swimming in Highland L...Expand for more
ake in Bridgton, ME. My folks built a camp on the lake there when I was a baby, and the kids and I have spent summers there our whole lives. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have flexibility, support, and laughter to be able to deal with the day-to-day. Juliette Lowe, founder of Girl Scouts in the United States. Yay to the lady from Georgia! Girls can do it all (camping and such is not just for the guys.) I love books, nature, swimming, my kids, dogs, and guinea pigs. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the facade and add on a two car garage and office. My dream home would be cozy and welcoming. Sleep when you are tired, eat when you are hungry, love much and laugh often. We all do the best we can with what we are given at the time. NO SORORITIES!! I lived in several different dorms, and spent one semester in Woods Hole, MA, studying oceanography and preparing to spend six weeks at sea on a sailing/research vessel. Wonderful! My current age is 43. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be busy parenting and working. I was so completely right. . I am dreaming BIG! Would like to pursue a career in ultrasound imaging and I also want to look into real estate management. In the meantime, I am a full time mom and Mary Kay consultant. My best friend would tell you I'm funny and loving, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as quiet. I think I have become a Bohemian, more or less. Comfort is my main aim, but I also like to look pretty. I still have the long, black hair and glasses. I share my home with my kids, a dog, a guinea pig, and sometimes my sweetie Gene, which I find wonderful. In 10 years, I hope to be happily married for life and happy at work. I'm going to get there by prayer, hard work, and being open to love. Rachael Class. I think I was 3 when we met, our moms were best friends, and she was like a second sister to me for MANY years. Today, she is a wonderful woman and an amazing mom. Amazing amounts of fun with my cousins each and every summer (and sometimes in between summers.) Going to Little Deer Isle with Leslie Fulton and her family. I love them and miss them. Amazing people! Reading, knitting, drawing... taking a walk, petting the dog, snuggling... all help me to unwind and relax.
