Patricia Ann's Story

I celebrated my 90th birthday on March 17, and though the old bod isn't what it used to be , I still enjoy life! I live independently in the same little house I have for over 50 years. My son,John,a Vietnam era veteran, is here daily. He has bone cancer, which is in remission, and the VA does an excellent job of looking after him. Lou Ann Jacobs,my daughter, was school librarian at Pontiac Township High School, and since her retirement is very active as an educator. She goes to Washington to lobby at least once a year, gives Power Point presentations from her home office that go down to the U.of I. She helps look after Mom, too.. Though there are certainly drawbacks, I marvel at and enjoy this electronic age. I couldn't function without my computer! I was an RN for 43 years,...Expand for more
20 of them at ISU. I've been involved in genealogy ever since the Bicentennial.enjoyed traveling when I was able to,and my house is so full of books that I call it the NPL Annex. I don't have granddkids, can't have pets as I might fall over them (I am on a walker),but I have always loved anything connected with horses and horseracing. I get the two racing channels, and have a neice by marriage in the field.I have learned a lot about the field. Of course, I have two Breyer horses(figures) in my house, and follow my two favorite mares, Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta, who are both in foal. Rachel will have a colt, and the Mosses, who own Zenny like to be surprised.. I keep in touch was a couple of U. High alumni, and some of my fellow-survivors from St. Joe's School of nursing.
