Ada's Story
Life
Hello, this is Ada Sum. It has been a long time since I have talked or have seen any of my classmates from Alisal High. One reason I have been so hard to find is that I am married to a career military man in the USAF. We are now stationed in New Mexico at Kirtland AFB, Albuquerque. Been married for almost 20 years this October. I was married to Ray Scott, another classmate from Alisal High graduating in 1972. Unfortunately we divorced after 12 years of marriage. Ray had a kidney transplant, but succumbed to cancer in l997. In the meantime, after my divorce I returned to nursing school and got my ADN, raised two children, and remarried; my current spouse is David F. Craig of Virginia. We met at George AFB in the hight desert, near Victorville, CA. I have lived in Florida, Virginia, Alaska and now New Mexico. I also returned to CA in between Virginia and Alaska for 3 years. My children are Matthew, age 28 and Amy, age 25 both have graduated from college, but are still deciding what to do when they grow up. Dave and I did not have children together; he was happy with the two I already had (lucky me). As for nursing, I have worked in the entire maternal/child area. For the last 7 yrs. d loved it. I am also a Lactation Consultant for the last 11 years, which is my passion to help Moms and babies. I guess I never knew my calling was to be a nurse when I was in high school. The only family I have living in Salinas is my sister Nina who is also an alumni of Alisal High graduating in 1971. She has lived in Salinas for the last 30+ years. I would love to hear from old friends from our high school. I know it has been a long time, but it would be great to hear from any of my classmates. Take care all from New Mexico, Land of Enchantment. Update: I am now separated and filing for a divorce. My story is sad, but am going to survive and be okay. I have returned to Alaska to work and live for now. My soon to ex-spouse is not a very nice man; has been deceitful for the last 17 years of our marriage-very sad for me. I suspected nothing-guess I am too trusting. Anyway, life goes on and I will too. Would like to hear from my old classmates. I plan to attend our 40th class reunion if we are going to have one. I attended only one reunion when I was married to Ray Scott, Class of '72. My soon to be ex never wanted to meet my friends, and was never interested in attending any of my reunions. I would love to see my friends again.
