Adam's Story
After high school, enlisted in the US Coast Guard for six years (four years active, two years active reserves). Spent time in Long Beach on harbor patrol/SAR on the old 40’ patrol boats, followed by tours to Alaska and Antarctica on the Cutter Glacier (WAGB-4); finally wrapping up my Coast Guard duty as a recruiter back in Long Beach.
Married in 1978 to Mamie Yong (class of 75)……..forty-two years now and still going.
Spent the next twenty-seven years in Construction Project Management with a short stint owing/operating a running pro-shop in Irvine. Started running cross country as a freshman ...Expand for more
at SAHS, and still running forty-nine years later.
Retired from construction in 2005 and accepted a position with a start-up land management organization (the Irvine Ranch Conservancy). Fifteen years later, still working as their Director of Planning & Infrastructure managing more than 50,000 acres of protected habitat. Ironically now managing some of the same areas I used to “ahem”…jump the fences to run in the back-country trails and hills. But, forty-six years out of high school now and still running & mountain biking the same trails.
Having too much fun to wind things down.
All’s good!
