Adrienne's Story
After graduation I attended San Jose State College majoring in Broadcasting and Industrial Arts/Electronics. I worked as a Tech Writer for Sylvania EDL in Mountain View and Bently Nevada in Minden, Nevada. I was the sixth woman hired by Xerox Corp. as a Field Engineer. In 1977 I went back to my first love, radio and and obtained my First Class Radio Telephone Operator's License. I have been in broadcasting ever since as a studio tech, engineer and on air personality. In August 1980 I did my last work as an engineer when I restored the KKBC transmitter to full power and went from the transmitter site in Carson City to South Lake Tahoe to cover the bombing of Harvey's Resort Casino. urned to my technical roots as a broadcast engineer. Currently I am a consultant on contract to the Nevada Broadcasters Association specializing in FCC compliance and producing pool feeds for our member stations. I am married to Joe Gutierrez and have two children, Diana Lorien, who is a wine broker, and Travis Zane, who is an IT engineer. Both are living in the Bay Area. Now we are parents to a dog, Dallas, a field-trained yellow lab. We live in Stagecoach, a small community on the edge of the Great Basin High Desert east of Carson City. We have traveled to Europe, Canada, Alaska and the East Coast. When I'm not working, I enjoy gardening, fitness and scrap booking. Currently we are remodeling and landscaping our home and trying to keep the mustangs and cattle out of our gardens as we attempt to make the desert bloom.
