Aila's Story
I was an exchange student from Finland in Comstock Park High 1967-68. Have been living in Finland ever since but two of my children are now living in the USA and I visit them once or twice a year.
I was quite shy, I think, when I was in Michigan but I played valleyball and attended some parties and all the classes I was supposed to. I have always considered my year in Comstock Park one of the most important periods of my life. I am grateful of working knowledge of English language and the experience of having a handicap because of not knowing the language well enough and still surviving because of all wonderful people around you.
I have a family _ four children, five grandchildren and a husband for aömost 40 years ( we were married in 1970 - one of the reasons why I never came back to visit Grand Rapids)
