Short Biography: Al Zichella A New York native, Al Zichella moved to Southwest Florida in 1986 and is a twenty three year resident of Naples. Mr. Zichella has over 33 years of management and supervisory experience in development, construction and home building. Prior to moving to Florida, Mr. Zichella worked for DIC-Underhill Industries of New York City, and several subsidiary companies, where he rose to Vice President. Some of the projects Mr. Zichella worked on and was associated with were: The Parker Meridien Hotel, the Palace Hotel; The IBM Building; The Trump Tower; Gateway Plaza at Battery Park City, among many others. In Florida, Zichella has served as a Construction Manager for Coastland Building Corporation, Director of Construction and Vice President for the Vineyards, and Project Manager for Columbia Development Corp, before joining WCI Communities of Bonita Springs in 1997 as Senior Manager of the company’s Homebuilding division. In 1999 he was transferred into the Tower Division as a Senior Project Manager, where his responsibilities included the managing, coordinating and supervising all phases of design and construction of high-rise, low-rise, single- and multi-family projects and clubhouses as well as for special projects, hotels, and joint venture partnership projects within the company. In 2003 Mr. Zichella was named the Tower Division Project Manager of the Year. His many project accomplishments include the Ritz Carlton Golf Lodge in Naples, Florida and Hyatt Coconut Point Resort in Estero Florida. In 2005, Mr. Zichella became the General Communities Director for Elias Brothers Communities, where he oversaw the start-up of the construction of the company’s Tuscany Cove community and the planning of the companys future projects. l Florida communities, including Naples, Palm Beach, Sarasota, Fort Myers, Bonita Springs, and Tallahassee. In 2008, Mr. Zichella joined KD Merick and Co. of Naples, FL, and is serving as its Vice President for Construction and Development. A state-certified general contractor for 23 years, Zichella was a professional member of the Southern Building Code Congress from 1992 to 2002 and is currently a professional member of the International Code Congress. Mr. Zichella is a Past President of the Collier Building Industry Association, and in 2004 Zichella was named Collier Countys Builder of The Year. Zichella is also President of the board of FCI (Florida Construction Institute) for 2007-09, and sits on the executive committee of the Florida Home Builders Association. Mr. Zichella was elected in October 2007as a Senior Officer of FHBA, and served as President of FHBA in 2011. He is a member of the Florida TaxWatch Board of Trustees, and served on the prestigious Government Cost Saving Task Force. In 2012 Mr. Zichella joined the League family of companies in Victoria, British Columbia, where he served as VP of Development. League develops investment properties throughout Canada. In 2013 Mr. Zichella joined The Related Group in Miami Florida as Vice President of Development where he manages the company's iconic City Place Doral mixed use project. Mr Zichella served as first Vice President of the Builders Association of South Florida through 2016 and was their Builder of the year in 2015. In 2016 he joined London Bay as Vice President-Developement with major Projects in Naples and Fort Myers Beach Florida. He was inducted into the Florida Housing Hall of Fame in 2018. Mr. Zichella has been a frequent lecturer and speaker at International College (now Hodges University) and Edison College, as well as at local service and community organizations. Mr. Zichella is married, to Kate, his wife of 36 years. They have two grown children and two grandchildren.
