Life
Hello all. Hopes that all are doing well, in these golden years.
I myself, have been blessed with a good healthy and happy life, as of today.
I currently live in the fine area of El Rio. Yes, still in the area after all of these years. After Cam High, I worked for a couple of years in retail, figuring that I had all of the school that I could take. I got married at 20 and had a beautiful daughter by the age of 21. I became a single mother within 3 years and managed to raise my 'Layla' by myself, working 2 jobs. I worked retail through 1982 with a part-time job as a teacher's aide for 3 of those years. I remarried in 1981, got away from the retail business in 1982, going to work for Pacific Sod, and then became mother to my lovely 'Kristyn' in 1984. I continue to work for Pacific Sod. In fact, I will be celebrating my 25th year there, this May. I started out in the Data Processing Department, venturing on to Office Manager for our nursery division, inside Nursery Sales, Nursery Salesrep and am now currently in the IT Department, with a position as Assistant VP of IT. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been given the chance to get educated on the job, as I found that an education is extremely important.
I got both of my daughters through the education that I neglected to provide for myself. My Layla received 2 bachelor's degrees from UCSB and one from CCA. My Kristyn will be receiving her bachelor's from CSULB this Spring, hoping to work on her masters next. If I sound just a bit proud, you had better believe that I am VERY proud of them.
