Alan's Story
After FHS I went to PSU and then came back to Bethlehem but couldn't get a job in 1974. My dad kicked me out of the house about a year later and somehow I ended up as an IRS tax auditor in Beverly Hills CA. Got married, hated LA, moved to Annapolis MD, had a son, got divorced, became a stockbroker.
Not just a stockbroker, but an extremely unsuccessful stockbroker who bounced from Merrill Lynch to Legg Mason to Baltimore Federal to Smith Barney and finally to Citibank. Ironically enough all of those companies except Balt Fed ended up being merged into each other about 15 years after I fled that industry. (Balt Fed was the first S&L to be taken by Uncle Sam under the RTC program back in the late 80's.) Now the remaining large insolve...Expand for more
nt mess of my other 4 financial services "alma maters" is known as Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, where I still have a few very good friends.
In the meantime I met my second wife Pam and we're about to mark 24 years of marriage (plus 2 more offspring). In 1992 I went into business with a friend selling fruit juices, teas, waters etc in Baltimore and Washington. Our distributorship has grown slowly but surely and we're up to about 60 employees and 25 trucks on the street. Hopefully everyone will keep on drinking...
