Alan's Story
Life:
Attended Oakland U. 1960-62. Started playing guitar, dropped out of school. Went "on the road" fall of 62. Voted Oakland U's most successful dropout after playing at the faculty beer party in 1964. Went back to school fall of 64 for 2 more years, at San Francisco State.
I married Christie Powell in 1967. We have two boys, born in 1969 and 1972. I lived and worked at music and other things in San Francisco until 1970, then lived in West Virginia, Florida, and Georgia. Moved back to California (southern this time, near San Diego) in late 1978. Christie died of cancer in 1981. She remains to this day the most beautiful woman I have ever known, and the great love of my life. We did a lifetime together in the time we had, and it's gone on ever since then too. . . She's an ongoing inspiration and helpmate, sometimes in unmistakable ways. . . Suffice it to say that death is just a doorway.
Became a silver/goldsmith in 1983, made jewelry for 12 years. Remarried, which ended badly-- my mistake, got divorced, enough said. I worked for a non-profit organization of investors (not policyholders) who were defrauded on investments in Lloyd's of London insurance operations, assisting with the research behind the legal battles...Expand for more
, managing the website and office, etc., until 2005. I know more about international financial and political intrigue than I ever wanted to. The scale of the corruption in the system is literally unimaginable, and what you can't imagine you can't really believe, so I don't try to make people believe it. The latest crash killed capitalism as we know it, and now the worms crawling in and out of the carcass are being reported as signs of life. . . and that's ok because it's not capable of being a world economic system anyway. One of the great challenges facing humanity is the creation of an equitable world economic system. We don't have any existing form that's up to the task.
I'm making music full time, from which I will retire only if forced to. I've been writing, singing, and playing guitar now for over 48 years, part or full time, and will until my body stops me. I use my first and middle names-- Alan James-- are my business/stage name. I have three CD's recorded, and 2 more to go to pretty well cover what I've written and kept from all that time. I do concerts and other gigs, and have a website, am on facebook, youtube, and so on. (Lol. So now I'm famous-- there just aren't very many people who know it yet, ya know. :-)
