Alan's Story
Life
After HS I joined the US Navy 1969-1973. I had Boot Camp at Great Lakes, IL then I was stationed in Chas., SC aboard the USS Macdonough DLG-8 as a Fire Control Electronics Tech. After the Navy I worked for awhile at Thrall Car Co. in Chgo. Hts. and for a structual steel company in New Castle, Indiana before moving to South Carolina.
I have taken lots of courses at a technical college but never got a degree. After 16 years working for NCR Corp. I Presently work as a Test Engineering Tech. for Solectron Corp. in SC. I married Sylvia Johnson, a girl whom I met here in South Caroli...Expand for more
na, in 1977 we have one son who is now 24yrs old, and 3 Grandchildren.
I have traveled to quite a few countries while in the Navy and for my employers, I have been to just about every Spanish speaking country there is, having visited virtually every country in South America, as well as Cuba, Jamica, Puerto Rico, Panama, Mexico, Spain, Portugal, Bahamas, Virgin Is. I also have been to France, Italy, Ireland, and Canada. And now I hardly ever travel anywhere outside of South Carolina. I guess I have gotten the travel bug out of my system. But if I ever hit the lottery... Its Bon Voyage.
