Alan's Story
Life
After graduating high school I went to Ohio University for a couple of years. I ended up being roomies with Tom Peters the first year. Tom and I were good friends back in junior high but high school had gotten in the way. It was pretty cool getting reacquainted with Tom. He managed to change my perspectives on a few things and fortunately, I think I kept him amused with my behavior.
After a couple of years I left Ohio University before they could throw me out. I was leading a pretty reckless lifestyle and it showed up in my grades. I transferred to UC and became no less reckless but paid more attention to school. Among my roomates over the next three years were Rick Bowling, Steve Bowling, Greg Smith and Bruce Patt. Believe it or not, I finished with a BS in Nuclear Medicine Technology in 1982.
A number of things happened over the next few years. I moved to Dayton and worked at Miami Valley Hospital for a few years. I married my wife, C...Expand for more
orinne Mazzaferri, in 1984. My first child, Ashley, was born in 1988. I briefly changed careers but wound up back in Cincinnati working in Nuclear Medcine in 1989.
I worked as both a staff technologist and as a research technologist until accepting a position as a program coordinator for the Nuclear Medicine Program at the University of Cincinnati. My last two children, Brianna and Dylan, were born in 1991 (twins).
In 1996 my program was moved to the College of Allied Health Sciences at UC and I received a couple of titles to go along with the move. I am both a Professor and Program Director of the Advanced Medical Imaging Technology program. I really enjoy what I'm doing and I plan to be here for a long time. Maybe I'll teach one of your kids (or grandkids) someday.
I had already finished my Master degree in Education on a part-time basis and had started my Doctoral. If everything goes as planned, I should be finished in Spring 2002.
