Alan's Story

I am "in the air" every week. After working for large medical corps, a few fellow executives and I, started our own medical company four years ago. Our blessings have shocked and amazed all of us. We now cover 30 states from Florida to Washington State and on through the midwest and southeast. We have 28 offices with 6 more confirmed openings during '08. I develop our line of wound care support surfaces that we manufacture in Southern California with our outsourced medical design team. I am the Vice President of Cinical Support and Product Development. My primary responsibilities also include clinical sales traing for all of our account executives, high level presentations of our products to Physicians, Surgeons, Executive level decision makers( i.e. Hospital C.E.O.'s.,C.N.O.'s,C.F.O.'s,and V.P's of purchasing),hospital department heads, ICU and Wound treatment nurses(W.O.C.N.). I spend a large part of my time in the San Diego and Los Angeles areas strictly to design and develop, but travel to all of our offices at least twice a year. Our service center/offices are located in southwest Florida.....as well as New York, Utah, Seattle, the Midwest(Chicago, Indiana, multiple offices in Ohio, and Minnesota......where our corporate headquarters is located. Minneapolis also has a service center/office. And, of course, the wonderful Southeast(two in Alabama, three in Georgia, two in Mississippi, one in the Carolinas, one in Arkansas, one in New Oreans, and FIVE in Texas. My main hobbie is "flats fishing the mangroves of south Florida(imagine that!!!), but I also pursue trout out west and back east with a rarely matched vigor. I am blessed with an awesome "hippie-chick" wife of 16 years and three incredible children. We have(or, rather, my wife has) home schooled all of our children(Jacob-15, Hallie-14, and Zeke-9) until this year when my 15 year old began prep school. Home schooling is really a poor description(they are co-op'd in many of their disciplines and are VERY involved in sports, drama, ect.). Hallie will continue to home school because of the freedom to pursue drama on a high level. She was born to be an actress, but Jacob is "smoking" prep school and was a starter in varsity soccer while just in the eighth grade for a high school Homeschooled group of athletes. They were invited to play in the prep school tourney last year and won the championship. He now plays for his highschool. Jacob continues to amaze me with his acedemic(4.05 GPA) prowess, athtletic achievments, and drive. I wish I had possesed just a portion of his drive and work ethic. Zeke is a "mini-me"(nine years old), but with LONG blonde curly, lo...Expand for more
opy hair......he gets ONE haircut per year. He is already renowned for his soccer talents and usually pulls his hair back in a "euro" pony-tail to play in his matches. All three of them are very gifted musicians. My blessings still continually amaze me. I have to think that I am the beneficiary of grace because God has such an incredible life plan for each of them and I am granted success as a biproduct to assure their stability and fluid growth. I am a deacon(10 years) in the P.C.A.(Presbyterian Church in America). How many of you would have guessed that?? A snap shot of my last few weeks and future couple of weeks, as I type this from Minneapolis, looks like this: Savannah Ga last week, Ohio the week before, San Diego and L.A. the week before that(fit in some winery shopping....another passion) , Fort Myers and Marco Island next week, Seattle the following week, Houston the next, and Salt Lake and Park City the next(that couples business with the best skiing in the continental U.S. at the prime time for champagne powder at Deer Valley......always a must for the last hurrah before trout and southwest Florida flats fishing season). I am not a member of this site, but because I inadvertantly opened an email it had me listed as having a profile for the last couple of years. I figured I might as well list some details after recieving many SUPPOSED visits and notifications recently. I never would have thought that I would take the time to post these details. Because of the realization that time is "flying" and my total disappearance from Hendersonville(during college I ended up in Dessert Storm as a Medical Corpsman attatched to a Marine unit). With age, I am begining to feel the urge to reconnect from time to time......It usually passes quickly :-) Maybe I will soon actually join so that I can fully catch up on the lives of many that shaped my life. I probably won't be showing up at any reunions, but would LOVE to hear from some old friends. Brett Chastain is the Godfather of my children and we talk weekly and see one another frequently. He can confirm my whereabouts... and I his. Outside of that, I have been COMPLETELY removed from the ghosts of the past. That has been a source of recent remorse. I hope that all of you are well and I think more about you all as each year passes. Godspeed and, hopefully, our paths will cross soon. I often see people in airports or restaurants that I could swear are one of you, but I never(or rarely) approach to confirm. However, I did see one of our old teachers(Tish Lamarbe) in a airport a few years back and we shared a few laughs. Hopefully, it will be one of you soon!!!!!! Alan
