Alan's Story
I was born in Waltham, Mass. My step-father was assigned to Luke AFB, in 1962. We came from Clark Air Base, Philippines. I went to Avondale Jr. High my 7th grade year. I was fortunate to attend Dysart from 8th through 12th grades. My dad was transferred to Okinawa, Japan, the summer between my sophomore and Junior years. Fortunately, I was able to live with the Reems family (Judy, class of 66, Susie, class of 68) my junior and senior years. I am still very much of their 'family'. rmy in April 1973, serving for twenty years with duty in Germany (73-76/77-80), Fort Knox KY (77), Fort Sill, Oklahoma (80-83, during which I received a masters degree in public administration from the University of Oklahoma), Camp Zama, Japan (84-88), Camp Casey, South Korea, (88-89), and Vanderbilt University, Army ROTC (89-1993). I worked at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Department of Otolaryngology (ENT), serving as Administrative Officer - Administrator - Vice Chairman, Finance and Administration from June 1993-June 2009. I was laid off. I live in Nashville. I am married with two step-children and a step-grandson.
