Alan's Story
After graduation from Monroe, I attended Pierce JC. I graduated in 1968 and then attended Long Beach State. I graduated with a BS degree specializing in construction project management. I was a college hire at Pacific Telephone/AT&T in 1970.
My career with AT&T spanned 31 years. I had various tours of duty in Southern California and in the San Francisco Bay Area. My favorite duty was managing the HQ complex at San Ramon for 8 years. This 2.1 million sq. ft. building housed over 8000 people. During this time as representative for the company and for Bishop Ranch, I was appointed to a position with the City of San Ramon in Traffic Managment. These were fun and challenging times. I retired in 2001.
My second career began immediately with Siemens Building Technologies as a project manager. There I specialized in energy retrofit projects which included boiler replacements, new lighting and other energy efficiency upgrades to buildings. I became the Manager of Procurement for the Northe...Expand for more
rn California Branch and spent several years developing procurement processes within the branch and also nationally. I retired (again) in 2006.
So for now I'm content to restore Corvettes. I have a 1984 Coupe and a 1998 Convertible. I'd like to own a 2006 or newer Z06 and maybe one of the older models around the 1968 to 1970 vintage. Wish me luck on this dream.
I have two grown daughters and two step sons, three grandkids with one on the way. My wife and I are hoping for a couple more grandkids in the next few years. Bonnie is still a teacher in Lincoln, Ca. She has one more year before retirement. I help out on Monday's and Fridays with reading in her 3rd grade class. We travel as much as possible during the year. We also have a home at Clear Lake and enjoy boating and other outdoor activities. I still love to ski and hope to continue for years to come.
We have a wonderful group of friends and family. There's always room for more. We enjoy entertaining and meeting new people.
