Albert's Story
Hello everyone,
I graduated with you in 1975. I then attended the University of Michigan until I graduated in 1979. I majored in Philosophy and Russian.
I returned to IU and Bloomington to go to IU law school. I graduated in 1982.
I moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan and passed the Michigan Bar in 1983. I set up my own solo practice.
Times were tough and I began to take accounting classes at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.
I moved to Detroit and sat for and passed the CPA exam, and worked for several CPA firms. I met my wife-to-be in 1985 and we were married at her dad's church (we are both preacher's kids) in 1988 on the hottest day in Detroit history (record still stands).
We moved to Evanston, a suburb of Chicago in the fall of 1988 and have lived in Evanston continuously since 1988. I have worked in the legal and financial fields for some time. Right now I have...Expand for more
my own CPA and my own Law practice, and I am a licensed Attorney and Licensed CPA in both Illinois and Michigan. I am also a Certified Financial Planner.
I live a typical but busy, life. Happily married, attend church regularly, etc.
My wife and I have two cute kids, Will (11) and Sarah (8). My wife's name is Ginger and the main thing we have in common is that both our fathers were the respective pastors of First Baptist Churches in Big Ten College towns (in her case-Iowa City, Iowa).
Despite the "typical" nature of my existence, I have had some fun things to talk about over the years: trips to the French Riviera, a fantastic honeymoon in Western Canada, saving clients lots and lots of money, etc.
Bloomington was a wonderful place to grow up. I think about it alot but I have only returned three or four times since the early 1980s.
