Albert's Story
Upon graduating from Pioneer, I studied both at Rio Hondo Jr. College and California State Long Beach as a Business Administration Major. Worked for the Santa Fe Railway in various field offices which included Fullerton, Santa Ana, Corona, and Angeles Hobart Yard. Upon experiencing a recession in the transportation industry in the early eighty's, I moved to civil service positions. I became employed by the L.A. Unified School District at various schools from Pre-School level on up to Adult Schools in Office Support Positions. In 1984, I joined the California Youth Authority at Norwalk working with Incarcerated Youth or "Wards of the Court" as they were described way back then. I was first assigned to Security Positions, then promoted to Counselor on a Juvenile Orientation Unit for Wards entering the State System directly out of County Juvenile Court. Upon promoting to a Parole Agent Position, I worked as an Institutional Parole Agent in Chino.at the Youth Training School Facility for five years. I then transferred to a field office in 1997 working in Westminster California which ser...Expand for more
ved the L.A. County and Orange County Coastal Areas. I then transferred to the Riverside Office. By this time, the Department was now known as the Department of Corrections, Division of Juvenile Justice. Upon promoting to a Parole Agent Supervisor, our jurisdiction covered the Riverside and San Bernardino County areas. The boring part of the Supervisor Position was that you were mainly assigned to the office making case work decisions and supervising parole agent's work as opposed to being out in the field making home visits and arrests in the community. With the exception of office arrests, working in the streets, many times with other police agencies, is where one was exposed to all the action and danger. All in all, there were many Life and Death Thrills, Chases, and Heart Pounding Blood Rushes! It was a Great Ride while it Lasted!
I am now retired, but do occasional volunteer work. I reside with my beautiful wife Alice in Apple Valley California. We enjoy traveling, dancing, socializing with friends and family, the usual stuff!
P.S. - I hope this story wasn't too Boring!!! (Lol)
