Albert's Story

After high school I dropped out of college ( stupid move) to become a Barthender at Enchante' in Cherry Hill,NJ.-- and then every "IN" club that followed. The money was insane but the lifestyle got to be too much.....sex,drugs and disco, I'm lucky to still be here.LOL Later I went from one sales job to another until I finally settled down when I turned 35. I then started a windshield repair business .Good money, but very boring. I decided in 2000 to get my Real Estate Licence, best move I ever made. I love the Real Estate business and am currently working for Coldwell Banker in Philadelphia Pa, which is where I have been living since 1991. I was in a relationship for 14 yrs and helped raise my partners 2 daughters. I consider them as my own-especially since I am the one they call whenever they need something. LOL- They are in thier TWENTIES now and the youngest one has 3 beautiful children of her own......Oh MY GOD -I'M OLD -I'M OLD!!!! After that relationship ended (we're best friends now) I enjoyed being single for 3 yrs until I met my current partner. We live in Paker Park, just over the W.W. bridge in Phila.Pa. I was a very self involved, materialistic person until March 1st 2005. That morning I got a phone call from my mother saying that my father was in a freak raquet ball accident (of all things.) Long story short--He is now a quadriplegic. They say everything happens for a reason and as hard as it was to try to figure out why something so h...Expand for more
orrible could happen to such a good man.....All I can tell you is that since that horrible day, my entire family became closer than ever, we all pulled together to support each other. I had to change my priorities and my family became number one before anything else. My Dad still cant move anything below his neck to this day but he is 100% himself from the neck up. I'm not saying that I wouldnt give my right hand for my father to be totally back to normal but....If this horrible accident never happened I dont think that I would be the person I am today. Dad's accident and watching him almost die over and over again for the first two years after the accident, really made me grow up. It brought me back down to earth and helped me to realize that material things DO NOT MATTER. What truley matters is staying connected to your family and making sure that you let your loved ones know how much you love them every day! It also reminded me who my REAL friends were and tought me how to be a true, good friend to them again! Most importantly, It brought me back to God. We are still hoping for a miracle that Dad will be completly physically healed but believe it or not, even if he isn't --he looks at his tragidy as a blessing because of all the good that has come out of it. All that I ask is that anyone who happens upon my profile to please say a quick prayer for my fathers healing. Thanks to all in advance! Albert
