Alex's Story
Life
To begin my life with the beginning of my life, I was born at St. E's in Covington, shortly after my mother was wheeled into the front door of the hospital. (A train had come along in Newport and delayed her arrival to the e.r.) As youngest of five children born, I cannot complain. I was raised entirely in Ft. Thomas on the north end and have some fond memories, especially the older generation for whom I did yardwork.
At age 18, I lived in NY state (south of Rochester) to go study ceramics at the renowned Alfred University (NYSCC) for 4 years where I attained a BFA. Then went to England and got an MFA from the University of Wolverhampton, which is in ...Expand for more
central England, not near Wales. After travelling 13 countries, it taught me the things Ft. Thomas will never understand, such as what it's like to have friends and relatives on the other side of the communist wall, and to visit those places after it just came down. My sister and brother were in Germany in the US military at overseas cousins. (Ja, naturlich möchte ich unser Vaterland oftmals besuchen!)
After college, I worked in the Sacramento, CA area and also in Washington, D.C., later deciding home sweet home in KY was the place to stay.
Now, I'm still making pottery on my free time and riding my bike around town, just like in Highschool, uncanny!
