Alex's Story
Life
After Thomas Jeferson High it took a little time to get life on track. I spent a few years in the United States Marine Corps, a great plus in my life. When discharged in late 1970 I began a 33 year career with The Eastman Kodak Co. After some years in the Kodak warehouse I eventually moved into the role of leadership. After 25 yrs I accepted a transfer to Rochester New York where I spent the last five years coordinating shipments between Kodak Rochester and the Republic of China.
During this time a co-worker introduced me to a cousin, Karen Johnson, from Mankato Minnnesota. We met in June of 1973 and married in May of 1974. We have two sons Kenneth Brent (30) and Todd Alexander (26). Both boys have spent time with the Marine Corps and returned to civilian life. Todd after 2 yrs of civilian life chose to again serve his country, This time as Mental Health Specialist with the US Army. He is currently serving in Miesau Germany while Brent remains in Rochester NY.
On June 1,2004 I retired from Kodak and ...Expand for more
upon returning to Texas we now reside in Terrell TX. At 56 Yrs. of age I was not ready to retire but I did have a desire to return to Texas. With this in mind and wanting to stay busy I took a position with a Garland company to initiate quality control processes. It's been great being back in Texas but my wife Karen, a nurse, and Brent remained in Rochester until February of 2005. It was quite an adjustment after 30 years of marriage to be apart but I did travel to & from NY appoximately every 6 weeks.
It is now Dec 08 and my wife and I have been in our new home for three years. I continued to work in Garland but due to the economy and the status of the building industry I have recently fallen victim to the Layoff process. With that I have decided to enjoy retirement and if the opprtunity arises try to find employment in the Terrell area. We miss them dearly but have the peace of mind that they are doing fine.
Anyone choosing to share experiences and/or reminise I'd love to hear what you've been up to.
