Alice's Story
Life
My life has been busy, productive and satisfying. After Wingate HS '58, I attended Purdue U. where I was a drop-out in my Junior year before being terminated for academic insufficiency. I wasn't a "party-girl" I was a political activist. Th0se were the civil rights years and that seemed more important than academics! Right movement, wrong choice! Came back to Brooklyn to attend St. John's Univ. UC, '65, and Graduate school '68. Graduated in top third of class and getting honors in Political Science. Went on to winning a Ford Foundation/Legislative Internship with NYS Senate. Stayed on in Albany to do research and lobbying for the NYS Conference of Mayors. ...Expand for more
Returned downstate to do policy for Nassau County Executive and then joined staff of NYC Comptroller. Started teaching part-time college; also became NYC Commissioner, then went on to become policy advisor to NYS Governor. Married, active in civic organizations, serving on many not-for-profit boards; had two children. Remain married to same original spouse. Went to law school in my mid-forties; worked as a lawyer, court attorney, administrative law judge and was elected to Civil Court in 1998. Continue to live in Brooklyn.
I enjoy entertaining and cooking and baking and opera and Brooklyn.
