Alice's Story
My husband, Hermie, and I were married for 45 years prior to his passing in July 2019. We have 4 sons, a daughter, and 2 grandchildren. My husband and I married back in June 1974 and with he being in the Navy we were stationed in various bases throughout the country (both east/west coasts). Just prior to his retirement, we came back to Port Orchard and have been here since. After working in office settings doing secretarial/clerical work for most of my adult life, I decided at age 50 that I wanted to pursue something that would be more enjoyable and that I really had a passion for --sewing/crafting. it my usual line of work and started my own small business sewing/crafting children's apparel and accessories, as well as child-related crafts. I then take these handcrafted products to craft shows, festivals, street fairs, and holiday bazaars. I love what I do and don't see retiring from it any time soon. Unfortunately, due to the current pandemic, my work basically has focused on sewing face masks for family and close friends/neighbors. Also, with my beloved husband's passing, I find myself with more time trying to catch up on years of "to do" lists and downsizing, but still enjoying time with my family more.
