Alicia's Story
So I loved drama class at Westchester H.S. and thought those who were able to make a living through acting were really lucky. I wanted to act, but wasn't crazy about the idea starving in the process, so I became a trial lawyer. I've been a Deputy Federal Public Defender now for almost 20 years and have loved almost every moment of it. Every once in awhile I am forced to represent an individual who I am not fond of but, by and large, I love, appreciate and genuinely understand the majority of my clients. What I most love about my job is helping people through what is for most, their darkest hour.
I am married to a Deputy United States Marshal whom I met about 11 years ago after he arrested a client that I had worked really hard to get out on bail. I was upset at the hearing to revoke bail and took much of my frustration out on him. Five years later, I happened to see him on The L...Expand for more
earning Channel one night and mentioned in front of my clients how he looked just as mean and nasty on tv as he did in person. He heard the comment and thought I was hitting on him - just like a guy! The rest is history. We were married in 2002 and have two great daughters ages 7 and 3, who keep us really busy. In our free time we like to see movies, attend concerts, and veg. I serve on various boards dedicated to improving legal access for poor or underrepresented communitiies and enjoy walking, hiking, spinning and traveling to Sonoma to visit our dear friends who live there.
P.S. If anyone knows how to get in touch with Mr. Brierley, I sure would like to thank him for putting me in "jail" in the 8th or 9th grade. That single lesson probably altered the course of my life. If anyone has a contact number or address, please write me through classmates (memory lane?) Thanks!
