Alicia's Story
Life
Life since high school has treated me well. I am still very happily married to the gorgeous man I said yes to over twenty years ago! We have two children, a girl and a boy.
I find it hard to believe that Kayla is now almost 22. Jim and I are so proud of her accomplishments. She graduated at the top of her class (top 10 students), was the editor of her school yearbook, and wrote an article which was published in the Tamarac Forum. She served as Miss Teen-Broward/Miss Tri-City 2004. Her back injury still severely limits her dancing, but she's active in so many other ways these days. While she is currently working as a dispatcher for Devcon Security, she is looking forward to the day when she can begin working as a full-time minister. That is change in her life path, but one that Jim and I are very proud of. She is amazing and we are blessed.
Alex is almost 18 and will graduate from high schooll at the end of May. he stuck with Monarch although we were less than pleased with the school in the past. This year has been the best so far. Alex will never be Mr. Academic, even though he has a very high I.Q. and is quite intelligent. His interests lie outside of school and he is going to be one of those children who blossoms after high school. He plans to go directly into EMT school, followed by the fire academy and paramedic school. He is currently a squad leader with the De...Expand for more
erfield Beach Fire Rescue cadet program. My little boy is defintely growing up! In fact, although it was definitely too young in his life, he recently made Jim and me grandparents when Aiden Michael was born on February 7, 2009. If anyone can make a success out of young fatherhood, though, it will be Alex!
If Kayla is our pride, then Alex would definitely be our joy. Jim and I are enjoying every minute of watching them grow up. There is never a dull moment around the Kendrick household!
Jim and I definitely enjoy the differences in our children. Kayla is completely confident performing on stage in front of thousands of people, but keeps to a small group of friends when off the stage. Alex is extremely uncomfortable being the center of attention in the ways that Kayla is, but give him a soccer ball and he's off. He is also the child that has 100s of "friends." I don't think there are many people in our entire community who don't know who Alex is. We think we have the best of all worlds.
Jim and I are still looking forward to spending lots of time together once the kids are out of school. We're hoping lots of traveling is in our future.
I would love to hear from everyone. I had a lot of good friends at every school I went to, and would like to know how all of you are doing. We are all products of our past. I enjoyed mine and would like to share it/pass it on to my children.
