Alida's Story
Such a little space to write about 46 years. Oh, well..... here goes.
I was the one that tried very hard to make class fun...(didn't always succeed) That's why I was placed at the front of the study hall with my back to the rest of you. I was so glad that the pencil sharpener was on the desk I sat at. That way, friends could come a chat with me.
Since high school, there as nursing school in Aurora. I started up in Rockford, but partying got in the way, came home, worked at Ideal at night, and then one day, Mother threw me in the car and took me to Aurora - Copley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was such a smart lady!!
After nursing school, I went to Columbia MO and worked at the University hospital for 7 years. I met Gary (he was a Paramedic and I was an ER nurse) After getting married, we went to southern MO and opened a small rural hospital. he was the Office manager and I was the Director of Nursing. We stayed there (oh, by the way) had 2 kids before we left Columbia.
We were in Ellington for a few years, I got a...Expand for more
n itch to move and after closing our eyes and fingering a map, we came upon Dallas. Moved to Dallas and lived in the suburb of Mesquite for over 25 years. Got another itch to move. Our grandson was with us. Our criteria was, small town, 4 year college, and SNOW.. (Scott's a snowboarder).
We landed in Alamosa, CO. The highest valley in the world (really!!) We are at 7800 feet. It's a great little community.
Scott is now a freshman, no sophomore in college, Tricia is living here and we are raising our 8 year old granddaughter. Her daddy, Justin, is in school in Denver right now.
Gary is retired and I'm not.......enough said! Although with all the honey-dos that I have him doing, he wishes he was still at the hospital. OH, did I tell you, he got his RN somewhere back there in this story....
I don't know who will read this, but it was fun trying to chronolize (is that a word???) my life in a short few paragraphs.
Hope to hear from some of you AND I hope I remember you..... You know, I've slept since high school graduation.
