Alita's Story
Our family moved from Burnsville MN to Fort Lee NJ in 1968. I was to be a junior in high school, a tough transition moving in the middle of high school years. I left behind my friends and neighbors of many years but also made new friends after the move. I moved back to MN about 3 years out of high school. My oldest brother never left MN (except for Vietnam) so when he came back from the war I made my way back to MN. I fell in love with a prize fighter and we moved to Florida for a couple of years, so he could train. All the while I worked as a bank teller until the birth of my son in 1978. Quit work for 6 years to raise him then went to work for the Postal Service. Mike (the fighter) and I split up after 12 years together. I married Scott 19 years ago and moved out to his hobby farm. untry life, it is my haven. We live and try to keep our life simple.
I am retiring at the end of July '09 (early retirement)to raise my 9 year old grandson whom we are adopting.
Of course there have been many twists and turns woven in between. I printed a copy of a pic that Pat Barry has posted of her, me and Judie Barth in 1969. Forty years have gone by and looking at that pic brings me right back to that moment. It becomes very tactile, I can feel where we were with all of our hopes, dreams, and future ahead of us.
Fast forward forty years...and here we are posting personal profiles of ourselves wanting to connect with a tiny bit of our past....very cool...yet very strange.
I hope all who visit my profile are doing as well as can be expected in this crazy world...
