As many of you know, my adult life has been spent in the US Air Force. Within a few weeks of graduating from Finney in June 1969, I was starting basic training at the Air Force Academy. (I hear that Woodstock was much more fun that summer!) I retired with the rank of colonel in June 2003 after completing 30 years of commissioned service. Throughout my career, I flew jet transports (C-141 Lockheed Starlifter), taught US and military history at the Air Force Academy and Air Command & Staff College, and served in various staff/command jobs, including nearly 5 years in the Pentagon. I have been married twice. I met my first wife while I was a graduate student at Indiana University, and we were married in June 1974. We had two children -Christy (b. 1979) and David (b. 1986). I married my second wife, Barbara, in 1997. I actually met her when I was an Air Force Academy cadet while on a trip to Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio (that is why I live in Dayton now).
