Allen's Story
Life
Young Allen was an easily misunderstood child. His reticence was mistaken for coldness, but he was capable of great compassion. After witnessing a particularly horrible Pennsylvania mining disaster once, he could not even finish a second helping of waffles. Even then, he had visions of grandeur, and modeled his life after his teenage idol, Socrates. Not just because he was a great thinker, but because Allen himself has been known to have some reasonably profound insights. Man, he reasoned, was not a Âthing apart from nature, but was involved Âin nature and could not observe his own existence without first pretending to be indifferent and then quickly running around to the other side of the room in the hopes of glimpsing himself.

up on Broadway as bubble master for the smash hit show LAWRENCE WELK: THE EARLY YEARS. A brief stint in the military followed, where it was he who determined that traveling at the speed of light was not only impossible, but undesirable, as oneÂs hat keeps blowing off.
Hollywood beckoned, and the then thirty something Haines headed for the left coast, only to be arrested in Beverly Hills for wearing a black leotard and running up and down Rodeo Drive screaming about communism. He immediately segued into movie and television marketing. It was either that or electro-shock therapy, and since he was already losing his hair, the movie business seemed to be a better choice. Now, all that remains is his search for an answer to that eternal question: Does extra-terrestrial life exist and, if so, can they fix a Â68 Jaguar?
Allen, his lovely wife, Ally, and two wonderful daughters, Katharine and Ella, are currently homeless, but hope to move into their new residence as soon as they determine whether or not it will float.
