Allen's Story
Life
Lots of college with degrees in Economics and Computer Science. The whole accademic over achievement thing, cum laud, Phi Beta Kappa. After living with several great women I found my red-head. Was totally gaga, thinking my nice guy, non-cruising karma had paid off with true love. By 1989 I had pretty much all I'd wanted. Was magager of Data Processing department. Been with girlfriend seven years. Was big shot in my family. Lots of friends.
-BOOM- It all blew up. Girlfriend decided to leave me for co-worker but didn't bother to tell me. CEO who I thought was my mentor turned out to be playing me and setting me up.
I spent six weeks alone crying into my pillow. Found out most of my friends weren't when I was down and out and not employed. Found myself just laying under a table one day and decided I didn't want to be found there dead so made a phone call. Got counselling, joined a recovering nice guy group.

o kill myself in three months because of the pain. Started to eat. Gained thirty pounds and the pain became bearable.
Parents got sickly. Dad lots of heart troubles. Mom cancer. Demoted myself from shipping/receiving manager to weekend driver. Moved in with Mom in my old highschool house. Doubled fortune in stock market. Mom survived but still gets rushed to emergency room occasionally. Rich, cynical, radical, single.
Tech stocks crash. I lose 10%. 9-11 happens. I lose 50%. Enron happens. I'm in debt. Back to work. Picking myself up yet again. Poor, bitter, radical, single.
Dad finally died leaving a messy estate for the lawyers. Keep calling 911 for Mom. Good thing, food poisening found early lung cancer so shes still ok. Sister Carol got breast cancer. Now I have more hair than her. On we go.
Addendum: Yow! sounds pretty pathetic. But I always kept my sense of humor. Well, almost always. Met the fireman husband of the Channel crisis center dropin regular. She grew up fine. I get by with a little help from my friends and the love of a bevy of married women who have adopted me.
